“He doesn’t look like someone who can do it”

Judging the book by the cover, was taken too far by a Ghanaian journalist, who declared in an interview by TV3, that, the newly appointed coach of the black stars, Goran Stevanovic, doesn’t look like someone who can motivate Ghanaian players to win cups. (Looks?? How? Okay…I’ll pretend I’m not upset)

Goran Stevanovic, who is a former Partizan Belgrade boss, signed a two-year renewable deal, with a mandate to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations. He admitted in and interview with BBC Sports, thatΒ  “it is a big challenge but it is normal. The national team of Ghana has been doing well. I know what is expected of me in future and I am prepared for that.” The Coach is keen on getting Michael Essien back to the national side.(Perhaps as part of his preparation)

His appointment has been greeted in Ghana, with mixed reactions. Serbian Stevanovic (third in the row of Ghana’s Serbian coaches), faces the not-so-happy-about-a-Serbian-coach Ghanaians, who have prophesied doom, and are still advocating for a black coach. The main concern, however, now that he is Coach, is to ensure the successive African Nations Cup qualifications,Β  as laid on him, by The Ghana Football Association

good will! good will! good will!
